About this role

TORQ COMMODITIES seeks a motivated and analytical Coffee Trader to join the dynamic trading team. You will source green coffee for European customers, focusing on German-speaking countries, and manage spot inventories. Develop strong relationships with export partners, farmers, and specialty coffee roasters to supply premium coffees meeting exacting standards.

Source and purchase coffee from global producers, cooperatives, and exporters while actively managing and optimizing P&L of your trading book. Sell coffee to roasters, importers, and institutional clients, negotiating contracts, pricing, terms, and quality specifications. Manage trading positions, price exposure, and hedging strategies using futures/options.

Monitor global coffee market trends, supply/demand dynamics, currency fluctuations, and macroeconomic drivers. Build partnerships with green bean roasters and customers, understanding needs and liaising with quality assurance and origin teams. Represent the company at industry events and trade exhibitions across Europe.

Collaborate with offices to develop innovative coffee products tailored to European tastes and participate in coffee selection. Identify new business opportunities to expand presence in the European coffee market. Gain career development in a fast-growing trading team with exposure to international markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, or related field; Master’s or MBA a plus
  • 3–7 years proven experience in coffee or trading green beans, or commodity trading (agricultural softs preferred); senior trader able to migrate existing trading books
  • Strong consultative sales skills and relationship-building capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of global coffee markets, pricing mechanisms, and trading platforms
  • Experience in risk management, hedging strategies, and futures/options
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data and market signals
  • Fluency in English and German; willingness to travel internationally
