The barista serves as the master craftsman of all beverage and food items at PJ’s Coffee. They create a positive environment for customers and staff while delivering consistently fast, efficient, and friendly service. This role upholds the reputation and integrity of the PJ’s brand and specific store.

Baristas prepare all beverages and food to exact PJ’s Coffee specifications for customer satisfaction. They proactively suggest new beverages, drink enhancements, snacks, and pastries to enhance customer experience. Daily tasks include following cash handling procedures and maintaining sanitary, safety, and aesthetic store standards.

Team members present a positive image to customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. They ensure excellent customer service through staff operations and physical store upkeep. Impeccable product knowledge and education encourage safe work practices aligned with PJ’s core values.

Baristas attend training sessions to boost coffee knowledge and work skills, applying them to operations. The role emphasizes dedication to personal growth and advancement into larger company positions. Ongoing management and leadership training opportunities support long-term success.

Requirements

  • Barista experience preferred but not required; training provided in PJ’s ways
  • Outgoing and engaging personality
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to communicate through email, phone, project management software, and conference calls

Responsibilities

  • Present a positive image to PJ's customers and coworkers
  • Proactively suggest new beverages, drink enhancements, snacks, and pastries to improve customer experience
  • Prepare all beverages and food to meet PJ’s Coffee specifications and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure the store offers excellent customer service through staff operations and physical upkeep
  • Follow cash handling procedures accurately
  • Maintain interior and exterior of the store to sanitary, safety, and aesthetic requirements using daily checklists
  • Alert management to operational needs, equipment failure, and necessary improvements
  • Attend training sessions to increase coffee knowledge and work skills
