About this role

Axil Coffee Roasters is seeking a Head Barista, a leader who develops their team and lives and breathes specialty coffee. This hands-on position suits a seasoned barista ready to take the reins of a high-volume venue. You'll set the tone on the bar, mentor the team, and collaborate with the training manager to ensure coffee quality peaks daily.

Your day-to-day involves leading all coffee operations and ensuring quality control. Dial in and oversee consistent espresso and brew execution while coaching and developing the barista team. Manage workflow and bar efficiency during peak service, liaise with kitchen and front-of-house, and uphold cleanliness, calibration, and café standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Head Barista or senior barista role in specialty coffee
  • Deep knowledge of coffee theory and practical extraction
  • A strong command of specialty espresso equipment
  • Experience managing dial-ins, bar workflow and quality control
  • Ability to train, mentor and inspire a team of baristas
  • A commitment to consistency, efficiency and hospitality
  • A collaborative approach; comfortable managing the pass or running floor as behind the machine
  • A hunger to learn and a passion to contribute to Axil’s evolving coffee program
