About this role
As Quality Assurance Manager, you will assist with the development of Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs. You are responsible for ensuring adherence to company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including GMP and HACCP/HARPC. The role integrates quality assurance into all functions and roles across the facility.
Day-to-day involves implementing and maintaining Quality policies and procedures at all levels. You will foster a positive Food Safety and Quality culture, monitor corrective and preventive actions for production and customer issues, and manage GMP audits by inspecting the facility and production floor.
You will manage the hourly QA team, evaluating skills, building teams, and developing training programs that support company objectives on quality and food safety. Serve as alternate GFSI Practitioner and hold/release authority while supporting other departments as needed.
Lead regulatory and third-party audits including GFSI, Organic, Kosher, customer, and FDA visits. Maintain responsibility for Key Performance Indicators, department budget inputs, and continuous improvement. Stay current on Food Safety trends and regulatory changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Science, Food Science or related field
- Or 5+ years QA food processing experience
- Knowledge of FSMA, 21 CFR Part 117, GFSI, GMP, HACCP/HARPC
- Experience managing QA teams and training programs
- Ability to lead audits including GFSI, FDA, and third-party
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and prerequisite programs
- Skills in document control, verification, and validation activities
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Quality policies and procedures at all levels within the facility
- Foster and maintain positive Food Safety and Quality culture within the facility
- Monitor and verify corrective and preventive action procedures for troubleshooting production concerns and customer product issues
- Manage team building and evaluate the skills and training needed of the hourly QA team members
- Develop and execute training programs that support the Company’s objectives regarding quality and food safety
- Effectively implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with FSMA, 21 CFR Part 117, GFSI, and customer requirements
- Lead and manage regulatory and 3rd party audits such as GFSI, Organic, Kosher, customer audits and FDA regulatory visits
- Manage the GMP Audit process by inspecting the facility and production floor to ensure compliance
