Barista

A Pret Barista works as part of a team in a Pret shop to ensure all Barista prepared drinks are served to the required Pret standard. The role guarantees excellent quality, knowledge, understanding and amazing service with Pret “Buzz”. It focuses on efficient back counter operation, cleanliness, maintenance and team training.

Baristas coach and train Team Member Star Coffee and Baristas in Training on Barista Prepared Drinks and standards. They liaise with the TMT to plan and carry out training, conduct coffee team briefs and ensure hot drink training material is up to date. They follow Pret’s dress code and maintain immaculate presentation in the correct uniform.

Day-to-day involves positively engaging customers and the team about Pret’s Coffee Story and Menu to create Buzz, calling down queues, serving drinks promptly and wowing with latte art. Baristas make all drinks to Pret standards, role model coffee knowledge and maintain quality through tasting and weighing. They report ingredient issues and handle results from Coffee Confidence visits and Mystery Shopper reviews.

In the shop environment, Baristas maintain equipment, Barista box and perform daily/weekly checks to Pret standards, cleaning as they go and role modeling the 5 point check. They ensure health & safety and food safety compliance, completing training to follow processes and reporting issues to managers. The role supports shop profitability through Barista Prepared Drinks waste control.
