About this role

As a Barista at Corewell Health, you will be responsible for producing a wide variety of intricate beverage recipes from a complex combination of ingredients, following standardized recipes in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role is essential to creating an excellent experience for customers while maintaining the highest safety and sanitation standards.

Your day-to-day will involve operating and cleaning specialized kitchen equipment, troubleshooting equipment issues, and multitasking across recipe production, cash handling, stocking, and sanitation duties. You will also identify ingredients or finished products that do not meet established quality standards and correct issues immediately.

You will work within a hospital-based Starbucks location, collaborating with a team dedicated to delivering personalized health care and exceptional service. The environment demands accuracy in fulfilling highly specific customer requests and performing effective service recovery when products do not meet expectations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Previous food service and cash handling experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Produce a wide variety of intricate beverage recipes from a complex combination of ingredients according to standardized recipes
  • Learn and retain beverage ingredients, measurements, and recipes
  • Operate and clean specialized kitchen equipment, troubleshoot issues, and resolve or refer to leadership
  • Identify ingredients or finished products that do not meet established quality standards and correct issues immediately
  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards of the work area and prepare for semi-annual health department inspections
  • Create personalized experiences for customers while demonstrating product knowledge and accuracy in fulfilling highly specific requests
  • Perform effective service recovery if products do not meet customer expectations
  • Multitask across recipe production, cash handling, stocking, and sanitation responsibilities
