As a Coffee Shop Barista at Hy-Vee, you will be the face of our commitment to providing a helpful smile in every aisle. This role focuses on reviewing and filling customer orders while ensuring all food is handled safely and the work area remains clean and neat.

Your day-to-day involves taking customer orders at the counter, preparing and replenishing product as needed, and running the department register. You will also check in product, review invoices, and remove trash in a timely manner to maintain a smooth operation.

You will work closely with a team that includes the Coffee Shop Department Manager and store leadership, all dedicated to supporting customers and each other. The environment emphasizes partnership, professionalism, and a customer-focused mindset to create a pleasant shopping experience.

Requirements

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions

Must be available to work night and weekend shifts

Responsibilities

Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
Takes customer orders at the counter and answers the telephone promptly to provide helpful service
Prepares and replenishes product as necessary, ensuring an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
Runs the department registers, receives payment, and makes change where applicable
Handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat
Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
Removes trash in a timely manner and maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items
