At Hy-Vee, the Assistant Coffee Shop Manager supports the Department Manager in presenting the freshest, most innovative, and best quality products at competitive retail prices. Always maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions. Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, learns customers’ names, and assists by escorting to products, securing out-of-reach items, or loading heavy items. Answers the telephone promptly, takes counter orders, and passes along customer suggestions.

Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. Handles food safely, keeps the work area clean, reviews product freshness, and anticipates daily needs. Supervises Coffee Shop Baristas while reporting to District Store Director, Store Manager, and Coffee Shop Department Manager.

Ensures adequate food supply, prepares and replenishes products, checks in deliveries, and runs department registers. Maintains strict adherence to hygiene, dress guidelines, and company policies. Adheres to schedules, removes trash timely, and assists in other store areas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner and learn customers’ names
  • Assist customers by escorting to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, and noting suggestions
  • Take customer orders at the counter and answer the telephone promptly
  • Review status and appearance of food for freshness and ensure adequate supply
  • Prepare and replenish product as necessary, anticipate department needs, and check in product
  • Run department registers, receive payment, and make change
  • Supervise Coffee Shop Baristas and maintain clean work area with food handled safely
