About this role

Barista Café Attendants provide excellent service and expertly crafted products in an energetic store environment. You will have the ability to master your food and beverage craft while working alongside friends and meeting new people every day.

Your day-to-day involves operating the register system, preparing beverages and food to standard recipes, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked work area. You will also assemble supplies, set up and serve items, and clean according to established standards.

You will work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting within WVU Medicine, collaborating with delivery vendors and following Starbucks seasonal promotional trainings. The role requires engagement with customers, understanding their needs through clear and pleasant communication.

This position offers the opportunity to grow your barista skills through required Starbucks Barista Basics certification and ongoing seasonal training. You will gain mastery in beverage sequencing, customer support, and food safety practices.

Requirements

Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to starting OR obtain MCHD Temporary FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment.
Must obtain a valid MCHD FSWP within 1 month of start date and maintain throughout employment.
Starbucks Barista Basics certification within 90 days of hire.
Prefer prior barista and/or food service experience in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities

Meets store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security.
Efficiently and accurately operates the register system including proper labeling all Starbucks drink and food items.
Prepares food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers per the Starbucks Barista Basics training guide.
Maintains work area throughout shift, ensuring it is clean, sanitized and well stocked with proper cups, lids, syrups, coffees, and refreshers.
Sets up, delivers, serves, and cleans according to established standards.
Engages with and understands customers per the Starbucks Barista Basics training guide, discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication.
Works with delivery vendor to unload, inspect and properly store Starbucks food items in the respected freezers/refrigeration.
Attends Starbucks seasonal promotional period trainings as appropriate.
