As a Coffee Shop Barista at Hy-Vee, you will be the heart of our customer experience, ensuring every guest leaves with a smile. This role is responsible for reviewing and filling customer orders for the day, handling food in a safe manner, and keeping the work area always clean and neat.

Your day involves taking orders at the counter or by phone, preparing and replenishing product as needed, and ensuring an adequate food supply is ready. You will also run the department register, receive payment, make change, and remove trash in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn customers’ names
Takes customer orders at the counter and answers the telephone promptly with helpful service
Handles food in a safe manner, reviews food for freshness, and ensures the work area is always clean and neat
Anticipates product needs, prepares and replenishes product as necessary, and checks in product
Runs the department registers, receives payment, and makes change where applicable
Removes trash in a timely manner and maintains strict adherence to department and company hygiene guidelines
Washes dishes, orders product and supplies, and prices products for customers as necessary
