About this role

The Roastery is where green coffee, expertise, and craft come together to create the product customers experience every day. As Head of Roastery Production, you’ll take responsibility for this pivotal part, ensuring every roast meets exacting standards and every order is fulfilled on time. Production planning is managed by the wider operations team, so your focus is on the roasting team following the schedule and hitting targets.

You’ll ensure roasting, packing, and dispatch work seamlessly together, so coffee moves smoothly from origin to customer. Work closely with the Production and Demand Planner to align roasting schedules with sales forecasts, seasonal peaks, and product launches. Adjust schedules dynamically based on customer demand, sales data, and inventory levels.

Embed a culture of accountability in the roasting team, with structured training and career pathways. Collaborate with the Head of Coffee, QC team, operations, supply chain, production, fulfilment, and brand teams across multiple sites. Oversee coffee profiling, roastery layout design, and quality assurance for roasted, capsules, RTD, and NPD products.

Requirements

Expertise in coffee roasting processes and profiling to meet quality standards
Experience leading roasting production teams to hit schedules and targets
Knowledge of integrating roasting with packing and dispatch operations
Ability to design and improve roastery layouts for efficiency and workflow
Familiarity with quality assurance systems for roasted coffee, capsules, RTD, and NPD
Skills in inventory management for green and roasted coffee
Collaboration experience across coffee, operations, supply chain, and QC teams

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Production and Demand Planner to align daily and long-term roasting schedules with sales forecasts, seasonal peaks, and product launches
Ensure the roasting team adheres to the agreed schedule and delivers against daily and weekly production targets
Ensure roasting, packing, and dispatch work seamlessly together so every order is fulfilled on time
Embed a culture of accountability within the roasting team for following the schedule and delivering production KPIs
Build structured training and career pathways for the roasting team
Oversee profiling of coffees to meet Origin’s quality standards
Lead the design and continuous improvement of roastery layout for efficient workflow and space utilisation
Manage green and roasted coffee inventories, maintaining accurate records
