About this role

As a Barista at Boyd Gaming's Nosh concession area, you will provide superior service to both internal and external customers. This part-time role ensures efficient operation of the specialty coffee and snack bar within a premier casino entertainment company.

Your daily duties involve preparing espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day, assisting customers with beverage and pastry selections, and following merchandising standards. You will handle cash, inspect safety areas, and open or close the outlet per established procedures.

You work closely with the Lead Barista, communicating on all operating issues to ensure smooth workflow. Collaboration with coworkers in a fast-paced environment requires resilience and a positive attitude toward all interactions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialty coffee/snack bar operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, as well as all levels of employees.
  • Must be able to distinguish between different denominations of currency and make change.
  • Ability to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around food service area.
  • Must be able to operate cash register, coffee machine, espresso machine, coffee grinder, grill, fryer, waffle iron, panini press, and Turbo Chef.
  • Must be able to work in conditions with hazards such as wet floors and hot grease.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and able to obtain all appropriate licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service, positively affecting interactions with customers and employees, and work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Assist customers in the selection and purchase of specialty coffee, beverages, pastries, whole bean sales, and merchandise.
  • Prepare a variety of customer beverage orders such as espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day.
  • Follow policies and procedures for operational flow at each station.
  • Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products; maintain inventory records according to Siren's Eye.
  • Follow cash-handling and register policies.
  • Inspect all areas of responsibility for safety and maintenance needs, and maintain cleaning supplies.
  • Open and close outlets in accordance with established procedure to ensure sanitation and protect company assets.
