About this role
This role ensures service standards are met and surpassed by providing customers with prompt, quality coffee selection, purchase, and preparation. As a Lead Barista, you will monitor total department conditions and follow through to maintain standards while demonstrating the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing a variety of customer beverage orders such as espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day, assisting customers in the selection and purchase of specialty coffee beverages, and maintaining the customer service area and equipment in a clean and appealing manner. You will also monitor code dates and product rotation, remove out-of-code product, and perform equipment maintenance in accordance with the preventative maintenance checklist.
You will assist in the supervision and direction of department personnel to ensure quality customer service, delegate job assignments and responsibilities in accordance with duty rosters, and hold personnel accountable for their assignments. The work environment is high-paced and sometimes stressful, requiring the ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
This position offers the opportunity to increase sales through effective marketing and merchandising of products in the department, write department schedules coordinating requests and business needs, and execute all Starbucks programs, policies, and promotions. You will be a key player in a team that values dependability, integrity, and professional presentation.
Requirements
- Must be a trained and certified barista.
- Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Able to calmly, courteously, and tactfully handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
- Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
- Prior food handling experience preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Responsibilities

- Execute and adhere to all Starbucks programs, policies, and promotions (i.e. Customer Voice, Siren’s Eye, etc.).
