About this role
Our Lead Baristas are coffee artists who go beyond ordinary service to deliver memorable drink experiences. They master latte art, creating intricate images when pouring milk foam, and understand the nuances of different roasts, blends, and flavor profiles. This role is central to delivering the high-quality coffee experience our guests expect.
Day to day, they prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty items, as well as menu offerings like sandwiches and salads. They describe products to customers, suggest appealing options, and process payments using the POS system.
Working closely with the F&B Operations Manager, Lead Baristas help create schedules and train new staff to ensure consistency and SOP compliance. They also order supplies, rotate stock, and manage daily cleaning and preventative maintenance of equipment. The fast-paced environment requires strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
This role offers the chance to develop leadership abilities while honing coffee expertise. Lead Baristas take ownership of the coffee shop's operations, from inventory to staff training, and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests returning.
Requirements
- Possess excellent customer service abilities
- Successfully utilize the POS system
- Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
- Effectively take direction and delegate responsibilities to teammates
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with availability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and quality service
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve hot or cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, teas, and specialty drinks, as well as menu items like sandwiches or salads
- Describe menu items to customers and suggest products that may appeal to them
- Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation
- Train new staff to ensure consistency and follow up with existing staff to ensure SOP compliance
- Work with the F&B Operations Manager to create the schedule
- Order and requisition coffee, syrups, pastries, grab-n-go items, and non-alcoholic beverages
- Manage daily cleaning and preventative maintenance of the coffee shop equipment
- Create signage to advertise store products or events
