At Hy-Vee, the Assistant Coffee Shop Manager supports the Department Manager in offering the freshest, most innovative, and best quality products at competitive retail prices. Maintains a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by smiling, greeting customers, learning their names, and assisting with products like escorting to items or loading heavy loads. Takes orders at the counter and over the phone while handling food safely and keeping the work area clean and neat. Reviews food for freshness and ensures adequate supply is ready.

Anticipates daily product needs, prepares and replenishes items, checks in product, and runs department registers for payments. Works closely with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. Reports to District Store Director, Store Manager, and Coffee Shop Department Manager while supervising Coffee Shop Baristas.

Adheres to strict department and company guidelines on personal hygiene, dress, and policies. Contributes to a fully engaged workforce committed to supporting customers and each other. Embraces a growth mindset for ongoing development in coffee shop operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn customers’ names
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, and noting suggestions
  • Takes customer orders at the counter and answers the telephone promptly for orders
  • Handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat
  • Reviews the status and appearance of the food for freshness and develops or follows a production list
  • Anticipates product needs, prepares and replenishes product as necessary, and checks in product
  • Runs the department registers, receives payment, makes change, and removes trash in a timely manner
