The Assistant Coffee Shop Manager assists the Department Manager in presenting the freshest, most innovative, and best quality products at competitive retail prices. Always maintain a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.
Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions, treating customers as the most important people in the store. Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, learn their names, and assist by escorting to products, securing out-of-reach items, or loading heavy purchases. Answer the telephone promptly, take orders, and enhance the shopping experience in every way possible.
Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment, while handling food safely and keeping the work area clean and neat. Review food for freshness, ensure adequate supply, prepare and replenish products, check in deliveries, and run department registers. Supervise Coffee Shop Baristas and report to District Store Director, Store Manager, and Coffee Shop Department Manager.
Demonstrate core competencies including partnerships, growth mindset, results oriented, customer focused, and professionalism. Adhere to company policies on personal hygiene, dress, and guidelines. Perform secondary duties like washing dishes, ordering supplies, and assisting other store areas as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to solve practical problems with variety of variables and limited standardization; interpret instructions
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to file, post, and mail materials

- Experience providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service in a retail environment
- Knowledge of food safety and handling practices
- Familiarity with maintaining fresh coffee shop products and production lists
Responsibilities

- Takes customer orders at the counter and answers the telephone promptly including taking product orders
- Handles food in a safe manner, ensures work area is clean, and reviews status and appearance of food for freshness
- Ensures adequate food supply is ready, anticipates product needs, prepares and replenishes product as necessary
- Checks in product, puts product away, and runs department registers to receive payment
- Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Supervises Coffee Shop Baristas
