About this role

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Head Barista is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests in the assigned outlet. Provides a courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service consistent with hotel standards and Kempinski’s DNA values. Aims to encourage sales and maximize guest satisfaction.

Leads coffee operations to ensure consistent beverage quality while developing standardized, repeatable, and service-proof recipes. Recommends, takes orders, prepares, and serves food and beverages to customers. Grinds, blends, brews, highlights menu differences, and answers queries politely and efficiently.

Trains and mentors team members on brewing techniques and customer service. Monitors inventory, manages waste efficiently, and performs cashiering duties. Handles outlet opening and closing procedures while maintaining a clean, organized environment per health and safety regulations.

Curates a comprehensive coffee, tea, and beverage program with innovations like seasonal or signature creations. Fully understands the restaurant concept and acts as guardian for service, food, and beverages. Attends daily Food & Beverage meetings in the Restaurant Manager's absence and performs ad-hoc duties.

Requirements

  • Warm, pleasant, friendly and confident, with good interpersonal skills
  • Possess good command of English
  • Minimum 2 year of experience in a specialty coffee shop or hospitality environment with a focus on coffee and beverage execution, with leadership exposure
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Passionate about specialty coffee, beverage culture, and hospitality excellence
  • Strong technical knowledge of espresso machines, grinders, brewing methods (V60, French press, Aeropress, batch brew), milk chemistry, and sensory evaluation
  • Hands-on experience with cold brew systems, pre-batching techniques, matcha preparation, and beverage R&D
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage high-volume beverage production with accuracy and speed
